Description
Raffia, also known as bast fiber, is a waterproof paper ribbon. It has no joins or protruding threads, is uniform throughout its length, and is biodegradable. A great advantage of raffia is its lightness and breathability. It is ideal for crocheting summer hats, beach bags, placemats, and various decorations, but also for arranging or tying floral compositions. The fibers come from Raphia palm trees.
